The Federal Bureau of Investigation's Los Angeles Field Office and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives in California, are seeking information on individuals responsible for igniting Waymo Autonomous Driving Vehicles in Downtown Los Angeles, California. On June 8, 2025, between 5:20 Pacific Time and 6:00 Pacific Time, a group of individuals ignited and poured an unknown substance around Waymo Autonomous Driving Vehicles (ADV) located near Los Angeles Street in Downtown Los Angeles, California. The fires resulted in the complete destruction of the ADVs, with the estimated monetary value of this damage being $215,000 per vehicle. The FBI does not open investigations based on First Amendment protected activity. Assaulting, resisting, or impeding federal law enforcement officers performing their duties is a federal crime.
Reward
The FBI is offering a reward up to $10,000 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the unknown individuals.
